Young Italian-American Accepts David Award

Natale Caputo of Wiscon Corporation Honored for Excellence in Marketing

(Melrose Park, Ill., November 30, 2005) — Natale Caputo, president of Wiscon Corporation, received the David Award honoring young Italian-Americans who show outstanding professional achievement and promise for greater things to come. By accepting this award, Caputo is welcomed into the prestigious David Society, an elite group of young people of Italian heritage who show professional promise in their respective fields.

The 17th annual awards event, held Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, was sponsored by the Italo American National Union Foundation, Midwest District of the Italian Sons & Daughters of America. Other  recipients of this year’s David award include Antonia Bennett (daughter of legendary singer Tony Bennett) for entertainment; Liliana Bartolotta for music; and Franco Coladipietro for government. Notable former award winners include child-star and entertainment personality, Danny Bonaduce; and Allison Rosati, co-anchor of NBC-5 News in Chicago.

“These young people represent Italian Americans in a positive light and bring goodness to our heritage,” said Ronald Onesti, awards chairman of IANU Foundation. “Nat Caputo has been involved in the Italian community for a long time. We have kept an eye on him. He started at the bottom wrapping cheese and he has worked hard to earn the keys to the family business.”

Wiscon Corporation was founded in 1978 by René and Pasquale Caputo as a small retail cheese shop. Now with more than 100 employees, the family-owned company is operated by their son, Natale Caputo. He has grown the business to earn $40 million in annual sales. The company offers a full line of award-winning Caputo fresh mozzarella, as well as a variety of other fine cheeses including parmesan, asiago and romano. Additional products include spices, vinegars, oils and pastas.

“I would like to thank my management team and my employees,” said Caputo upon accepting the David Award. “Their enthusiasm and dedication is what helps make Wiscon and Caputo Cheese a great success. I would like to dedicate this award to my parents for their hard work and taking the necessary risks to make this company a golden opportunity.”
